General steps for downloading your own social media archives.

Platform interfaces change often. These guides stay intentionally general so you can find the right export flow even if menu labels move.

Platform menu names and export flows may change. These instructions are general guidance only. Check the official platform help pages if you cannot find the setting.

Use and independence

Only import archives you own or have rights to use. SoTree is independent and is not affiliated with X, Twitter, Meta, Facebook, or Instagram.

X / Twitter archive

Open X settings.
Go to Your account or the current account management section.
Find the option to download an archive of your data.
Complete any identity verification the platform requests.
Submit the archive request.
Download the ZIP file when X says it is ready.

Facebook archive

Open Accounts Center or Facebook settings.
Find the information and permissions area.
Choose the option to download your information.
Select the profile, date range, media quality, and file format you want.
Submit the request and download the ZIP once it is prepared.

Instagram archive

Open Accounts Center or Instagram settings.
Find the information and permissions section.
Choose the option to download your information.
Select the Instagram profile you want to export.
Request the archive and download the ZIP when it becomes available.
